Peter Weyts, Founder

After completing his veterinary studies at Ghent University, Peter spent 2 years affiliated with the Anatomy and Histology chair under Professor Paul Simons. His responsibilities included conducting laboratory practicals for veterinary students and engaging in scientific research. The research focused on the circulation of the periphery and pododermis (hoof) in horses, yielding previously unknown information.

Following the two-year research period, he decided to enter private practice and established a clinic in Bruges while continuing his studies. During an international congress featuring renowned professors discussing hoof lameness, he discovered that his research findings were not widely known. This prompted an intensive search for molecules capable of restoring vasoconstriction in the tissue, eventually leading to the identification of several molecules through trial and error.

With the collaboration of industrial pharmacists, various preparations were developed on a nutritional basis. Meanwhile, his clientele primarily consisted of experienced and sensitive top-level equestrians. They were asked to evaluate the different preparations for their efficacy, refining dosage and pharmacological aspects until a functional formula was achieved.

Six years after filing for a patent, the patent was granted. A market study and industrialization efforts were initiated, leading three years later to the establishment of Alsvid Pharma as a company for the public commercialization of Trombofeet and other future supplements.the development of the software, marketing, and customer experience strategies.
